Hoboken Reporter, October 31, 2004 Vote 'Yes' on 'Pay-to-Play' ordinance!Dear Editor: Some members of The Hoboken City Council had an opportunity to stand tall by adopting all three of the "Pay-to-Play" reform measures sponsored by the People for Open Government but they chose instead to support the status quo. I have at least a nodding acquaintance with the current council members and as individuals they seem to be civic minded officials which makes their decision all the more perplexing. Were they under great pressure or did they not understand the mood of the public? On November 2 the voting public has an opportunity to demonstrate that an individual's vote is just as important as a lobbyist's dollar. And that our concerns on unrestricted development, lack of open space and shrinking parking do count. Tuesday, November 2 vote "Yes" on the "Pay-to-Play" Ordinance!
