April 1999 CBW Lobbying for Open Space Funds
The Coalition for a Better Waterfront has joined with the Friends of the Weehawken Waterfront, the Historic Paulus Hook Association (Jersey City), the Hobart Block Association (Bayonne) and other groups in lobbying the governor's office for open space funds to be dedicated to sites along the Hudson River. With the passage of the open space referendum last fall, the State of New Jersey will be dedicating $98 million a year for open space and farmland preservation. Our lobbying efforts will attempt to allocate a significant portion of these funds to urban areas and specifically for sites along the Hudson River before they are usurped for more private development. |
